Our focus is mainly on Bangor with 1 race of interest at Thirsk and its Bangor we go to first….
Bangor 2.35 – Flashing Glance 5/1 best odds available
A maiden hurdle and the selection has to overcome a 135 day absence off the track, in fact all bar Little Doty have an absence to overcome. Despite this the sire, trainer and jockey stats are positive with a 2 wins out of 6 races for the sires progeny under these prevailing conditions, The trainer Tom Lacey has a 1 run 1 win record in maiden hurdles at the track and when he teams up with Richard Johnson in non handicap hurdles they have an 11 runs 4 wins 8 place record making this one of mild interest.
Bangor 3.45- Ballycool 16/1 best odds available
The selection won this very race last year off a 100 rating and has now dropped in the handicap to 92 after a series of unpromising runs, but despite this there are a lot of positives in that his sire has a 2 runs 1 win 2 place record under these conditions, The trainer Lucinda Russell has a 9 runs, 3 wins, 4 place record in these 2 mile 4 1/2 Hcap chases at the track with today’s jockey D R Fox riding 2 of those winners and if the horse where to jump back to form then these conditions will suit, at the odds an EW play is recommended.
Thirsk 4.40 – Chaplin Bay 10/1 best odds available
3 in here jump out at the stats the other 2 being God Willing from the stable that won the race last year and Vincenzo Cocotti, The draw could be significant and Chaplin Bay certainly has the better of this in 4 with the other two drawn wide in 9 & 11, Sire stats are particularly strong and an EW play is recommended.
Bangor 4.50 – The Otmoor Poet 20/1 best odds available
Well this one has shown very little form over fences to date with 5 unplaced efforts but the trainer has the best stats in the race for handicap hurdles at the track and the sire has a 5 run, 3 win, 3 place record under these conditions. A small EW play here as the horse may just not enjoy the fences but worth a dabble at the odds with the stats being strong.
